About me

I have been dabbling in writing for nearly 15 years now in various genres including short stories, longer stories/short novels, poetry, prose and song lyrics.

I love putting some of myself into my characters whether it be personality traits, my beliefs or my ideals. What fascinates me is that as time goes on and you age you look back and notice how your stories from when you first began writing seem so immature and totally cliched, and that you would re-write a totally different story if you could. I suppose that is because when you put yourself into a story, that is where you are at that point in your life. Over the years you grow and change and so your stories grow with you.

I like writing with themes that span Christian, Country, Western, thrillers, soft supernatural, redemptive ideals and a little sci-fi.

Thanks for reading....

Still and Waiting

I was driving past East Ipswich School on Tuesday and there was a little old Grandma standing, waiting for her grandkids. She very much reminded me of my late Grandmother, and how so much she would have loved waiting for Kaylee afterschool...

She stands on the footpath, still and waiting
Looking across the road at the school
Cane carry bag in her left hand
The other holding a folded up hat.

She stands there staring at the school, remembering
The 70 odd years ago when she went
Her school friends have long sinced past away
The last of her generation is she.

O' what fun she had when she was young
The joys and laughter that bought tears to her face
People ask her what if she could do her life over again
'I wouldn't change a thing, " she said. "Not a thing!"

The school bell rings in the background
She looks at her watch, 2:58
Looks like the clock is fast once again
Not that she minds, not that she minds.

She stands on the footpath, still and waiting
Remembering the past, the years long gone by
"Great Grandma! Great Grandma!" The kids shout aloud
She smiles a loud smile as they run into her arms.
